There is a lot more to be said about working remotely, I will add more posts in detail on other aspects. For the very basics-
Quiet office space with a freely closing door
Decent internet bandwidth and signal strength
Headset with microphone, ideally swing arm extended boom (mouthpiece)
Understanding and acceptance of company policy on remote access, security rules and resources. Spelled out what expenses will or can't be covered such as internet access, phone lines, data usage, secure offsite backups, home office tax laws, workers comp coverage, etc.
A polite but firm convo w framily about being home to work remotely does not meant you are available. 🤫 (No mum, the dishes and laundry won't get done before 5pm)
In my professional career (30+ years) in the computer & software tech industry, the last 15-20 have been through working remotely. As technology has evolved, so have the tools I use for a productive workday. There is an amount of practiced discipline developed in keeping work and home/personal time separated from one another.
Good Luck!
{Looking for some tips for your own staff, unsure what tools are available, funny stories, life lessons learned, social support, etc.? Contact me via this site or via email for an estimate. (Bear in mind I am a full time working schmo, what limited spare time I have is after hours)
Thanks! -Els}
